Restuff your cushions: how to make your couch look brand new

No need to invest in a new couch with this easy trick!

Does your couch look like it needs an upgrade? As it turns out, you don’t have to pay hundreds of dollars for a brand new couch. If you know how to restuff your cushions, it will give your couch a much needed upgrade while you save a lot of money in the process.
Restuffing
First, you need to check whether your cushions are ‘restuffable’. If the cushions of your couch are attached to the couch and can’t be removed, you won’t be able to restuff them with this method. If you can remove the cushions but can’t open them with a zipper or something similar, you can not use this method either. Your cushions need to be removed from the couch and they have to have access points.

Step 1: Back cushions
Take off the back cushions of your couch and put them some place where you’ll have plenty of room to work. Then, use Poly-fil to stuff your cushions. Just keep stuffing until you can’t fit anything in there anymore. You don’t have to worry about stuffing it too much. Make sure the Poly-fil is stuffed into every corner of your cushion. If it looks too big and like it is going to burst; don’t worry. When you use your cushions they will settle in after you have used them for a while.

Step 2: Seat cushions
The next step is restuffing the seat cushions. Because they need to stay flat, you will not be filling these up with Poly-fil. First, remove the piece of foam from the cover. Then wrap the foam in quilt batting. The technique is to wrap it like an enveloppe. Usually, three layers is plenty but if your cushion is extremely flat, you might need more layers. Then use a spray adhesive to make sure the quilt batting sticks to your foam. After that, you can put the wrapped foam back into the cushion cover. This might require some help and force because the cushion will be much bigger than before. Don’t worry about it. Just make sure you stuff the foam into the cover; the cushion will settle in just like the back cushions will.

Your couch will look good as new and it didn’t cost you more than fifty dollars. That is way cheaper than a brand new couch!
